The principles of Open Science are a unique standard for scientific communication in Europe. Shaping the values of Open Science is an important step toward establishing European values and standards within the Ukrainian academic environment. The National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI) consistently supports the trends of the European Research Area, and the adoption of the KPI Open Science Policy (Order No. NОН 337/2022 of 30.11.2022) serves as direct evidence of the university’s academic community’s intentions.

Faculty members of the department are actively engaged in implementing the principles of Open Science. On March 24, 2023, a scientific-practical conference titled “Open Science as a Standard for Scientific Communication” was held, with 112 faculty members from universities across Ukraine participating. Head of the department, Prof. Y. Lavrysh, delivered a presentation on “The Principles of Open Science”, while Head of the department, Prof. I. Simkova, presented on “Open Science and Academic Integrity”. Senior lecturer and Associate Professor T. Holub gave a talk on the challenges in implementing Open Science policy at the university.
During the discussion, participants addressed the prospects for adopting Open Science practices, the specifics of writing and publishing scientific papers, and the types of open-access repositories. The conference resolution endorsed and supported the university’s initiative to integrate Open Science principles into the research activities of its faculty.
