Basic military training for civilians

In the context of the war in Ukraine, basic military training for civilians is crucial. Some teachers of English took part in one of the trainings on 29 December 2023. The training included mine awareness, small arms proficiency, fire training, and tactical medicine.

  1. Mine danger: external signs and appearance of explosive objects, improvised explosive devices, safety of handling when they are detected, methods and rules of notification when explosive objects are detected.
  2. Small arms: purpose, material part of small arms, order of assembly and disassembly, methods of carrying weapons, combat stance, grip, methods and types of positions, holding weapons, bringing weapons to the target.
  3. Interactive multimedia shooting range: fire training exercises.
  4. Tactical medicine: first aid algorithms, critical bleeding, signs, help; purpose of turnstiles, principle of operation, types; practicing the skills of applying turnstiles.

The participants could enhance their safety and contribute to community resilience amid the challenges of war. Thankfully, basic military trainings are conducted on a regular basis and they are free, the trainers are knowledgeable and helpful. Without any doubts, this hands-on experience may save lives.
