ALL-UKRAINIAN COMPETITION OF VIDEO WORKS
“MY FIRST YEAR AT UNIVERSITY”
OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AMONG STUDENTS OF THE 1ST YEAR

We invite first-year students to take part in the All-Ukrainian competition of video works “My first year at university” in English, which will be held in the period from March 1 to April 27, 2025.

The purpose of the competition: to increase the intellectual and innovative level of higher education applicants, to stimulate motivation for the development of creative abilities and to create conditions for supporting gifted students

The determination of the winners depends on the number of points received for the performance of this task.

Video is an extremely important tool in the educational process, especially in the conditions of the modern technological era. This art form allows you to visualize concepts, making learning more accessible and interesting. Video materials contribute to strengthening understanding (perception) and memory, and also develop students’ creativity. The use of video in education allows you to adapt learning to different learning styles, developing critical thinking. This multimedia approach contributes to the formation of an educational environment that stimulates the activity and development of the student’s personality.

Requirements:

A video competition for first-year university students “My first year at university.” You should register individually by filling out the Registration Google Form, which includes your consent for the materials to be published.
You should record a video describing your experiences as a first-year university student in Ukraine. Consider the requirements:

• Duration: your video should be 3 minutes long. Shorter or longer videos will not
  be accepted;
• Remember: you should present your video individually as it is your vision; a video
  generated by AI will not be accepted; reading is not allowed, your speech should
  be natural;
• Privacy concerns: you do not have to use your name and surname in the video;
• Structure: your video should consist of three parts: introduction, main part, and
  conclusion;
• Introduction: make a short pitch about yourself as a university student. Your
  introduction should capture your viewers’ attention and encourage them to watch
  the video;
• Main part: describe one victory, one failure, and the lesson you have learned as a
  result;
• Conclusion: provide two tips for other students and leave a positive final
  impression;
• Language: you should use appropriate register, vocabulary, grammatical patterns,
  intonation, and pronunciation;
• Visuals: your video should be visually attractive and support your description of
  your first year studying at university; using animation is allowed;
• Music and/or sound effects should enhance the viewing experience without
  distraction.
