Being a TESOL-Ukraine member offers numerous opportunities for professional development programs. One of them, “The TESOL-Ukraine Mentorship Program (UMP)”, is a six-month initiative connecting passionate educators and leaders to foster personal and professional growth. Unlike typical training courses, it emphasizes personalized collaboration, with mentors and mentees choosing their focus areas based on individual needs. The program aims to support ongoing development, build leadership skills, and create meaningful professional connections in a trusting environment. Participants who complete the program receive a Certificate of Achievement, acknowledging 15 hours of professional development (0.5 ECTS).
It was interesting for me as a mentor to work with a secondary-school teacher. Despite our different educational environments, we chose a topic that was interesting to investigate for both of us – alternative assessment. The program is over, but we continue our partnership as we are co-authors of an article to be published. This experience highlights teachers’ dedication to continuous learning and professional excellence.
