The Department of Modern Languages for Specific Purposes and the Centre for Research on Specialized Languages from a Multidisciplinary Perspective, part of the Faculty of Letters at Ovidius University of Constanța, organized the international conference “Innovative Trends in Teaching Languages for Specific Purposes in the Context of Current Social Instability – INNO-LSP.” ESP educators, experts, and practitioners from multiple countries gathered to share insights on innovative approaches they employ to engage students, actively involve them in learning, enhance their performance, and prepare them for the ever-evolving labor market.

English teachers Oksana Chugai, Kateryna Havrylenko, and Oksana Synekop from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” presented their research titled “Technical University Students’ Views on the First Language Use in EFL.” Their study explores students’ attitudes and experiences regarding the use of their first language while learning English as a Foreign Language. Employing a mixed-method approach, they collected both quantitative and qualitative data through an online survey. Sharing research, receiving constructive feedback, and engaging in discussions are vital for educators, making events like this lively and enriching.
