TESOL-Hungary, which is an affiliate of TESOL International, Inc., is dedicated to the professional development of English language teachers across Hungary and beyond. The theme of the 35th TESOL-Hungary Annual International Conference “Bloom” reflects its mission to create such learning environments where teachers and students will flourish (https://tesol-hungary.org/?page_id=941). Professionals from various international institutions conducted inspiring workshops and interactive presentations, planting the ideas rooted in their experience and letting them bloom in discussions.
Oksana Chugai, an associate professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” shared the results of her research in the presentation “Teaching English to STEM Educators Applying Principles of Adult Learning.” This study examines Ukrainian STEM educators’ experiences in English courses, focusing on their language proficiency, professional growth, confidence, and use of technology. It highlights challenges faced, coping strategies, and emphasizes the importance of integrating English training into professional development, aligning with adult learning principles for effective outcomes.
Besides formal sessions, the TESOL-Hungary Organising Committee conducted special raffles with prizes from TESOL-Hungary, sponsors, and exhibitors, as well as social events for the participants to play board games, listen to live music, and network, creating meaningful connections.
To conclude, the 35th TESOL-Hungary Annual International Conference, “Bloom,” was a celebration of growth, inspiration, and connection among teachers committed to EFL. This event laid the groundwork for a promising future in language education.
