“STEM and English in Action Summer 2026”

Oksana Chugai, an associate professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” took part in an amazing final event of the English course «English for Inservice Science Secondary School Teachers in Ukraine» supported by the RELO Office, U.S. Embassy Kyiv, and NGO “Svitlo”, a 32-hour professional development seminar “STEM and English in Action Summer 2026” which took place in Serock, Poland.
This English course was designed to enhance the English language proficiency of secondary school STEM teachers in Ukraine. This final event supported a community of English teachers and provided a safe environment for reflection, sharing ideas, and planning future projects. Workshops and presentations on field guides, setting SMART goals, teambuilding and individual tasks, project work, fun activities, gamification, and not only. It was about observing, building relationships with other participants in the group, making mistakes and learning from them. It was about the well-being of teachers and students during wartime, planning next academic year.
The most precious were the atmosphere of trust and understanding, the cheerful spirit, and the resilience of Ukrainian educators. Thank you, Jen MacArthur, Heather Tatton-Harris, Joan Miller, Lilia Shylo, and Anton Plaksun, for your support and sharing your expertise with Ukrainian educators!
