On September 16, the first meeting of the new academic year of the KPI Student Research Club “English for Science” of the Department of English for Engineering 2 was held.
The session focused on academic orientation and essential academic skills. Students explored the differences between academic and non-academic communication, practiced evaluating sources and evidence, discussed effective strategies for searching for academic information, and worked with academic language, paraphrasing, and cautious claims.
Special attention was given to the critical and responsible use of AI in academic work, as well as the structure of scientific papers and the IMRaD model.
At the end of the session, participants assessed their academic skills and identified areas they would like to develop throughout the year.
